Artist's Statement:

"Cool Romanticism  is a pretty accurate description of that which I am looking for in my work. With these two words I underscore my desire to create a visual fusion between cerebral, distant, 'cool' observation, and a more intuitive, musically inspired, 'romantic' way of looking at things. Calligraphy, Oriental Art, computer chips, construction profiles, ramifications of plants, the dance of mosquitos on water: All of these are examples that inspire me and deliver ideas for my own 'rhythmic networks'.

"A first quick glance at my work may give the impression of a functional, rational and even mathematical design. Upon more attentive looking though, an irrational poetic universe opens, where sometimes lines and shapes dance, and colours vibrate.

"My works might be regarded as schematic notations, like musical scores, but the significant difference is that in them the 'music' can be simultaneously experienced visually. This notion of being thrilled by a scheme or network, of visualising and enhancing it in a pictorial way is my personal task as an artist. By combining shapes, varying colours and line thicknesses, by repetition and variation I hope to stimulate or inspire the observer (you).

"It will be my continuous desire to create and search for wonderful rhytmic gardens of sound and colour..."
