From a Distance

Diamond, XXVII

.....and he still lies
in his darkness
as I enjoy day colors
and varying degrees of black.

I picture him there
soiled and unknowing,
a nothing in cheap
jogging suit pajamas,
but I don't know where
he is......not really.

Last year he constantly
rearranged the furniture
in his sparse 10 x 10 room
and would callus his knees
spit shining the floor.
I wish I understood
the importance
of those final tasks.
